Keep Up, Catch Up, Up to Speed

Apologies for the intermittent writing.

First of all, Happy Halloween! I hope you've enjoyed the great weekend programming throughout October. We do it every year, and it has become a lineup of new voices and more than a few old regulars. Haunted houses, spooky podcasts, fall aficionados, and an overall monster mash of programming made for a fun celebration for both us and our listeners. Don't forget, if you have the SiriusXM app, all of that programming is available for replay.

The last few weeks have seen me taking care of some RadioNemo business, returning to the road, and preparing to welcome back a friend. I thought I would use this space to catch you up on what's been up, then you will be up to speed. So, heads up!

The most important of these goings on has been getting ready for the return of my Weekend 34 cohost Lindsay Lawler.  Lindsay comes back to Dave Nemo Weekends after graciously stepping back while Dave and I did some reorganizing of RadioNemo over the past few months. We've got some exciting new developments with our company, and Lindsay's return is the first step in that process. I am going to talk more about what her contributions to the show will look like in a later post, and don't be surprised if she makes a contribution to an upcoming entry I am working on about building a playlist for the Weekend 34 Road Trip. We'll also be doing our best to promote her upcoming vinyl release party.

Her return is fortuitous, because it times perfectly with Women in Trucking's Accelerate Conference. Who better to co-host a trucking conference about women than a woman who knows a few things about a life on the road. Along with being one of our favorite events of the year, Accelerate also serves as a kickoff of sorts for RadioNemo's busiest travel and programming schedule of the season. That schedule will culminate with the Vet Ready Summit in D.C. and the laying of the wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery. We see a lot of our genuine friends on those trips, so don't be surprised if I produce a post about friendships around that time.

I just got back from Kansas City for both OOIDA's Truck to Success and the ATHSHall of Fame induction ceremony. I have a lot to say about both, but I will wait to write more while I get my thoughts sorted out. For now, I will say that Lewie Pugh's message of how to be a "squeaky wheel" in increasing your earning power was a great value lesson not only for trucking but for the gig economy at large.

Finally, watch this space for some exciting news out of New Orleans. Donna Howell, Dave Nemo, myself, and some very important allies have been laying the groundwork for a return home of sorts for The Road Gang. I'll be traveling back and forth between Burbank and The Crescent City until the end of the year. I should have some news for you before then.
